T.I.N. Policy

Verification Policy

What T.I.N. badges mean and how we assess them.

Effective 3 Aug 2026

Meaning of badges

A badge may indicate that T.I.N. has completed a stated verification, that an account belongs to staff, or that an account has a particular creator role. A badge does not mean that T.I.N. endorses every statement, product, or activity of the account holder.

Verification, paid features, and reputation are distinct. No payment can guarantee a verification result, alter a moderation outcome, or purchase credibility, editorial treatment, or a higher reputation score.

Eligibility and review

We assess the authenticity of the account, the applicant’s authority to act for it, account security and standing, and any criteria displayed in the application flow. Some badge types may also require public interest, role, or creator-program requirements. We may ask for reasonable verification information and use trusted sources to validate it.

An application may be refused, delayed, or revoked where information is inaccurate, the account is insecure or in poor standing, criteria are not met, or the badge could mislead people. We do not disclose sensitive verification methods or documents.

Changes and appeal

We may change badge criteria to prevent fraud, comply with law, or improve clarity. If we remove or decline a badge, we may provide a reason where appropriate. You may use an available review route or our Appeals Policy if you believe a decision was made in error.

Misusing a badge, claiming a badge you do not have, selling access to verification, or submitting false documents may result in removal, account enforcement, and further action where warranted.
